Do you have a child with autism? If not, I’m sure you know someone who does have a child with autism. It is estimated, according to CDC that 1 in every 68 children in US has autism which is a 10 fold increase in last 40 years. It is 5 times more common in boys than girls.

What causes autism? More than 5 years ago, we really had no idea. We’ve been bombarded with lots of speculations including early vaccination as being a cause.  What current research is showing is that there is a genetic predisposition with a possible combination of environmental factors that may increase risk. Evidence is pointing to risk factors that occur before and during birth.

Have you ever noticed autistic children do not play the same as other children? They tend to avoid the other children or may even lose it with too much noise or activity. I’m sure some have looked on with disapproving looks that their parents are allowing these horrible temper tantrums. These children become highly stressed and don’t know how else to respond.
